Moving from WB English to WB German on same host
« on: February 22, 2008, 08:39:40 PM »
Hi folks,

I currently have a website under WB English under one domain. My customer wants to now move it to another domain which is on the same host (www.domain1.at and www.domain2.com - both under the same parent directory), but he wants the German version of WB.

My question is, can I install the German version of WB under the new domain, use the WB backup feature to back up all my tables (WB plus mine) and then restore it under the new domain?

He is going to use another MySQL db to which I have access, so I will not need different prefixes.

Any help will be much appreciated. By the way, I am really thankful for all the excellent help I receive from you guys.

Hello,

yes this is possible. Simply backup the entire database e.g. with phpMySQL (store it as textfile). Than replace all hardoced links e.g http://oldsite.com with http://newsite.com (simple texteditor search and replac) and use this as new baseline.

Thank you very much Christian for your response! I have already removed all hardcoded links, and will move over maybe this coming Monday.

Danke vielmals!
