OpenID bounty - could WebsiteBaker be eligible?
« on: February 07, 2007, 03:46:47 PM »
How big is WebsiteBaker?  Big enough to win a $5000 bounty? Are there any published statistics?

OpenID has gotten some bounty money to promote the open standard (and many open source implementations in many languages) that lets you:

- use one ID on multiple websites
- use ONE SECURE password on multiple websites - without each one storing your password
- AND still decide which pieces of personal info each site will be given.
- I believe it gives you single-sign on as well (sign into site1 and you don't have to sign into site2)

US$5000 bounty announced :  http://iwantmyopenid.org/node/7
Detailed requirements :   http://iwantmyopenid.org/bounty

About OpenID  :   http://openid.net/
get a free openId  :  http://myopenid.com
lots of info    :  http://www.openidenabled.com/

Livejournal uses it (mostly for comments), AOL now apparently, and even Verisign lets you create a free OpenId (called PIP).

Lots of sample code, even a server so you can run your own

I looked into OpenID about a year ago and it looked very promising - possibly going to be a feature of WB3.

*BUMP*

OpenID has steadily gained in popularity the last few years. Many well known CMS's use it already. Maybe it's worth while checking out if WB could use it.

Hi Argos,

why don't you post a feature request for WB3 on the project page ... but remember the anti-spam measures!

cheers
