Hi,

I find that each .php file has its own xxx.htt file in theme folder, but I cant find where variables from header.htt and footer.htt are defined.

Im willing to make bootstrap theme for wb, I think it is about time to do it..

Are you referring to a frontend or backend template/theme?
Frontend templates don't use *.htt files.

Template = Frontend
Theme = Backend

In my opinion, he wants to build an alternative Theme for the given Default Theme. I would agree to this, because the Theme is loading so many big files which are not needed and the loading time is horrible. Especially the thousands of CSS entrys...

The backend theme. I still cant find where header and footer variables are defined..

its 2017. and it is damn time to be responsive :D

I already made couple custom sites using bootstrap in FE, so it would not be dificult for me to make backend theme

It's very difficult to create a real new and secure Theme in current environment right now.
We have already begun to completely rewrite the BE for the next version (2.11). This will also bring very strong, profound changes, since the whole theme will then be 100% based on Twig templates.
Then the designers for each screen have much more data available than now. So designers can do their creative work completely free of the PHP code.
Maybe this also explains why we are not investing much more time in the current DefaultTheme. We already creating the new one.....
