Different options, categories per product?
« on: July 14, 2012, 12:41:47 AM »
Hi all,

Wil try to be short and clear.

I was asked to build a webshop. As i use WB for a while i wanted to use Bakery aswell.
But i was wondering if it's possible to create more options or categories for each product.

For instance, the shop must be a Bike shop:

=================
Products example:
Code: [Select]
=================
Product: Bike
Model: Ladies bike
Brand: Merida

Product: Bike
Model: Kids ATB
Brand: Merida

Product: Bike
Model: Downhill bike
Brand: Cannondale

Product: Bike
Model: Downhill bike
Brand: Merida
=================

Now, one of the wishes of the customer was, that i should create in a left colum two menus.
One menu with all 'Models' listed.
And another menu with all 'Brands'.
Like in my example, when i click on 'Ladies bike' i should see 1 product.
When i click on the 'Merida' i get three products.
When i click on Brand 'Cannondale i get 1 product.
Wheni click 'Downhill' i get 2 products.
etc.

Menu example:
---------------------------------
Models
Ladies bike
Kids ATB
ATB 29
Downhill bike

Brands
Merida
Cannondale
---------------------------------

But i don't want to add more than one product, which should be visible in multiple 'categories'.
Is there a possibility to select more options to products so it will be listed in several categories and to create different menu structures?

I hope my point is clear what i'm trying to explain. Thanks.

I see the site is about bikes. Maybe you can use an another module that has a filter mode.. the catalistmodule from dev4me does this. I made also a site about bikes (http://www.eelcosfietsreparatie.nl/pages/fiets-aanbod.php) with this module.

One categorie chooser is possible because bakery uses categories when you use different pages for each categorie. It is possible with Showmenu 2 to make a dropdownlist just like the filter on the site i wrote in my last post. I made that on the next shop http://goodbookshop.nl/pages/muziek/ned.-artiesten.php on the left site you see a genre chooser.
