bakery word in url
« on: October 14, 2010, 11:50:24 PM »
I have set the Pages Directory to blank so that it doesn't show in the url. This works fine for the first level but when you go to the product details it appears. I've noticed that it does this on the example sites too.
Is there a way to prevent this as quite frankly it doesn't look to professional!
Maybe there are some PHP code modifications that could be done...

In your general settings, there is a place where you can "name" the directory that the bakery pages originate from.

Rename it to something like "store," "shop," "products," or even "merch." And then bakery disappears from your urls.

As for setting the pages directory to "blank" I hope you mean you installed WB onto the root of your site, not just blanked out the title of the directory that pages go to. I've honestly never seen that as being perceived as "unprofessional. Even M$ Sharepoint sites have similar default/generic directories, as does WB and even WordPress.

That was at first a somewhat 'duh' moment as I had forgotten to change it in the Bakery general settings. After deleting all of the Bakery pages I tried to do this but it came up as 'Rename unsuccessfull', so I removed the whole of Website Baker from the server and deleted all of the database tables and started again from scratch.
To access the Bakery general settings it seems you have to create a Bakery page first, then I tried to change it to 'shop' (without the '' of course) and saved it,  it came up as 'Rename unsuccessfull'.  I tried putting a folder called 'shop' in the pages directory and it came up 'folder already exists'
How can this be done, it seems that it needs to be changed BEFORE making a page, which does make sense as once a page is made it will be in the 'bakery' folder, but there seems to be no way of accessing the general settings page in Bakery before doing so, am I missing something somewhere??
