Leeijen Trading B.V.
« on: January 08, 2010, 03:22:15 PM »
A few weeks ago i finished a new website for some "trading" company. They buy new and used machinery and they sell them again.

The site has been build upon WB 2.7 and has 5 languages. The catalog was made by Ruud (Thanks for that!) and now the customer is able to add his own machinery once, the catalog will then use config files to translate to the proper language. Adding new category's is pretty easy once you know how it works, and adding new fields for category's can also be done easy. Only disadvantage is that the owner cant add own brands and types because of his lack of PHP knowledge. But he is statisfied with the result and it works as he excpected.

Let me know what you think of it. And i know the design is not that good but maybe you have read: this so together we worked on this and when the customer is statisfied i'm statisfied! :)

It's simple, but nice. That looks professional. I like it.

I noticed that the German translation is full of errors. It would be good if you have this fixed.

is this a new catalog module - or is the "old" catalog module that has been around some time (with still some bugs in I believe)? If not, is this catalog available as a module?

Oooh... I'm interested int hat catalog module too! Is it based on Catalog, Portfolio, MultiPart Page, or an entirely new module? I really like the nice incorporation of the images.

I have to look at Ruud to answer your questions, but i know it has been build from almost scratch. A lot of client specified wishes. This module is (as it is on my site) not available as a module. I have it build by Ruud special for this customer.

But i can tell you it is really customizable, categories and all, the hard programmed field for search function and the variable fields for just information. Also multilangual with the use of language files so you only have to enter a machine once and not for all the languages.

Thanks for the info Bram, I'll contact Ruud to see if he can create something like that for a client of mine too.

Very nice looking site, and the catalog looks great!

Did you know that you can set up a first time landing page in WB so that the language selection page isn't your home page? That way you could have your "Home" link go to a more appropriate home page? Just a thought?

To set it up go to "Settings" then tick the "Intro Page Enabled" option, and save. Then the "Intro Page" can be edited from the "Pages" link. (Sorry if you already know this - I just thought it was very appropriate for this site)

Can anyone point me to a technique for creating "Dependent Drop Lists" in WB - looking at the catalogue details page I can see that it would be very useful here, and I have a similar need in a site I am working on.

PurpleEdge,

I know about the intro page, but the customer requested that the Home is the language selection. Before the launch i had a dev area and there it was setup like you said but he wanted the Home to be the Language selection / Intro page.

About the technique, it is done with a custom module so i can not point you in the good direction. The catalogue is a custom made module by Ruud.
