Hello together,
yesterday we had the first meeting of the module team together with developer team - for the conclusion just look here:
http://forum.WebsiteBaker.org/index.php/topic,28331.msg198414.html#msg198414As said there: The module team is no "closed team", so everybody can take part without "signing a contract".
One of the goals the module team will start with is updating modules to current WB version (right now: WB 2.8.3 SP4), but with reference to upcoming version like 2.8.4.
The updating of modules mostly will contain:
- Keep the ease
- Standardize the modules: Follow the Coding guideline, the IPO principle, creating a module (security) guideline
- Make the modules look more modern
- Make the modules more secure
Please consider the most important:
The module team is a community team, but it does not want to remove any module from an active maintainer!!!
So please keep in mind, we only can update and maintain modules, where there is no active contribution / maintainer (*) mentioned in the forum, in the addons repository
http://addon.WebsiteBaker.org/, on AMASP
http://www.websitebakers.com/ or other known addons sites, e.g.
http://www.dev4me.nl/.
Active maintainer: I think a statement from the author, that he or she does not longer maintain the module - and after that nobody maintained it anymore - is clear. Not so clear is "missing contribution" - personally I think not contribution to a module for at least 1 year and the last author / maintainer not active in the forum is a hint, but not a certainty.
Also the license is not unimportant at all - not all modules are released under GPL!
If you are unsure, please contact the maintainer or us first!
So - which modules the module team should update?Just to mention: The modules must be opensource, public and free of charge.
Please list here your most used and loved WebsiteBaker "upgradable" modules, e.g. 5-10 modules. If you are a current maintainer / module author and some of your modules are posted here, please do not discuss it here, but contact me per personal message. The module team will check any contemplable module as posted.
The module team will then count all mentioned modules, prove if they can be updated / maintained in legal and technically belongs and then update the most mentioned modules. You can also post some wishes you like to see in an update - perhaps we (or you, if you take part in the module team!!!) can fulfil them, but of course without any guarantee.
The "voting" will close on Tuesday, 26th May 2015.
