Bootstrap version

I recently switched to another webhoster, and at that moment also started using another tool to build my own websites. I found WB through Softaculous software in DirectAdmin.
In the meantime, I have built a few websites, and adapted an existing template to my own taste, regarding layout and functionality.

A question out of curiosity (it killed the cat... ):  is there a special reason why Bootstrap 3 is still used in WB and add-ons instead of Bootstrap 5?

Nein, es gibt keinen besonderen Grund außer vielleicht, das sich noch niemand mit dieser Thematik beschäftigt hat. Ich selbst nutze kein Bootstrap, hab es noch nie und wüßte nicht mal, wo ich das in WB suchen sollte. Im Backend würde ich es nicht suchen. Und im Frontend ist jeder frei, andere Techniken zu verwenden als die, die das Beispiel-Template DefaultTemplate zeigt. Gleiches gilt auch für 3th-Party-Addons. Auch da gibt es keine Vorgaben

Meine private Meinung: WB hat sich vor gut 10 Jahren auf W3CSS festgelegt, von daher wundert es mich, das Bootstrap da auch noch mit läuft. Ich meine, wer es benötigt in Modulen oder Templates, soll es halt mitliefern, ob in Modulen oder Templates. Es sollte nicht Aufgabe von WB sein, alles Mögliche bereitzustellen.

My personal opinion: WB committed to W3CSS a good 10 years ago, so I’m surprised that Bootstrap is still included. I mean, if anyone needs it in modules or templates, they should just include it themselves, whether in modules or templates. It shouldn’t be WB’s job to provide every possible option.

In 100-150 kb difference, I think bootstrap Is still better, it has its komponents like minus, dropdowns, nosača, cards, tooltips , ja included for this, Dark mode, so i dont have to waste time when i need something bootstrap already have, so it Is my first choice for both backend and frontend.

Punkt 1: du würdest dich aber bei deinen Modulen und Themes sicher nicht darauf verlassen, das der Core irgendwelche Dinge schon bereitstellen wird, oder? Zumindest nicht, solang das offiziell nicht bekannt gegeben wurde. Also lieferst du es mit, damit es später in jeder Situation funktioniert. Mach ich zumindest bei mir so. Ausgenommen sind halt fixe Dinge, die nicht Teil von Themes oder Templates sind, sondern Teil des Cores, als Beispiel Jquery

Punkt 2: Wie gesagt, nutzt WB z.b. W3CSS seit der Version WB 2.10.x. Es ist fest integriert, so wie auch fontawesome oder eben Jquery. Alle Core-Module sind darauf ausgerichtet. Was passiert, wenn nun jemand sagt, ich möchte mir ein Theme basierend auf Bootstrap bauen, also, ohne die Einbindung von W3CSS? Diese Frage war ein Grund, warum ich in meinen Modulen gesagt habe, ich liefere W3CSS trotzdem mit, aber die Core-Module holen sich das vom Backend-Theme, zumindest die alten Module.
Keine Ahnung im Moment, wie eine optimale Lösung aussehen könnte, mit der man solche unterschiedlichen Frameworks unterstützen könnte ohne, das unser Paket nun in den 100Mb-Kreis aufsteigt.
Eine Variante wäre es sicher, die jeweils neuesten Versionen von Bootstrap, W3CSS, FontAwesome zentral anzubieten, aber dann hast du die Frage: wo hörst du auf? Morgen kommt jemand mit dem Wunsch nach einem anderen System und übermorgen ein Nächstes. Dann sind da noch die Erfahrungen mit Jquery. Jahrelang waren auch alte, unsichere Versionen Teil des Paketes, weil sich eben Modulautoren beschwerten, das ihr altes Modul mit den neuen JQuery-Versionen nicht mehr liefe.
Insgesamt also ein schwieriges und komplexes Thema...
Und weil du sagst, 100 - 150 kb ist nicht viel. Sicher sind wir nicht mehr in 1995, wo man mit Webspace rechnen mußte, aber von meinem Moduletyp habe ich jetzt ~ 30 Module, die alle ihr Zeugs mitschleppen, aber aktuell hab ich da keine andere Lösung. Ich müßte mir erstmal ein Bootstrap-Theme bauen, um zu schauen, was im Core dann passiert

maybe I didn't explain it well or maybe it's a translation thing, but there are already htt and soon only twig files.

That means creating backend themes will be more easy. Most of us remember before there was an argos theme that many people used. I'm not saying that we should switch to bootstrap , even  it Is my personal preference , and I know  that there are other options like tailwind, w3css etc.. bootstrap is more practical for me because it has its own components and vanilla js, while jquery has not been developed for a long time.

To do this properly, I'm also making a bootstrap helper module that will show all the options and help for less experienced users. also the theme will have scss files, so it will be easy to customize (first of all the colors of the theme, according to user requirements, if you don't know scss, you won't find the bootstrap theme customization video).
