I'm not the CEO, but I'm in charge....
It is only understandable that users are looking for answers as to whether and how things will continue. There is a clear will on the part of the association to keep the project going. Of course, there will have to be a new organizational set-up, but nothing that cannot be solved.
What users will be more interested in is the question: What will happen to the CMS and will it continue at all? A clear answer: Yes, it will continue!
There will be a WebsiteBaker 2.13.6 before Christmas, with a focus on calendar week 51, and at the latest on December 20. Until then, there is still a lot to analyze, compare and understand. The last test version generated by Dietmar is currently running on all WB sites. In addition, there are many small things such as updates to the 3rd party modules and various fixes such as the template installation or changing the user language or also adaptations to PHP 8.4.x.
There was once an agreement that the 2.13 line would be the last for this form of WB and that it would then continue with a 3 version, which would then receive a new backend that separates front and backend users, is based on TWIG templates or contains a new media administration. I cannot answer whether this agreement will still be valid under the new conditions. It is quite possible that there have already been developments, but we no longer have access to them. The same applies to CKEditor 5, where a lot of time has already been invested. For example, I had a direct integration into the Wysiwyg module and Dietmar had the global integration into the system, as is currently the case.
Nobody will be able to answer what it will look like in 8 or 10 years, neither here nor with any other system. The fact is, the planned WebsiteBaker 2.13.6 will run in this form for at least the next 4 years and will continue to support PHP 8.3 as extended support, and then even longer. We are also currently working on adaptations to PHP 8.4.x, which will be an ongoing process. But here we have to include the modules. From this point of view, I have no fear for WB.
And perhaps we will be able to win over one or two developers

WB will continue to develop as long as there are active developers.
Is there any source code for WB.3 ?
sternchen8875:

I can't answer that, but if we do, then we probably don't have access to it. Dietmar was more of a fan of completing one thing first, but of course you also try out a few things. As far as TWIG is concerned, some things are already running on two tracks in the core and the ElFinder was probably planned for media management.
