New website for a campsite
« on: December 06, 2025, 12:28:16 PM »

Seems that nobody wants to show off what they do with WebsiteBaker? Well here's one that I recently built. It's a website for a campsite in Šonov, Czech Republic near the Polish border.
Website is built in 6 languages, it remembers your language choice for next time you visit but you can always change that later again of course. It uses some external scripts for currency calculations (provided by https://wise.com/)  and Google Reviews (by https://elfsight.com/).

Take a look and maybe book a nice stay for next year ;-)

Nice ! First load takes a while ( like 5-10 sec before menu button appears on phone) , 2nd load Is fast.

Yeah I know, host is not the fastest unfortunately. I've compressed the living daylight out of the images already trying to speed things up a little. :-)
(Although 5-10 seconds is very extreme... I don't see that here - even on devices that have never accessed the site before so no caching)

The menu button is a Font-Awesome element. I moved it from an external kit to local hosting. Maybe that helps.
Google Fonts also seem to slow down first rendering. The site does perform very fast here though, even on devices that don't have cache of it. But of course it has to do well for everyone.
Always looking for improvements on loading times :-) (Webp is not an option for WB, I suppose....?)

(It bugs me though that Lighthouse keeps nagging about "image does not have a fixed width and height" - No, of course not. It's 2025. We have responsive design, images are resized on the fly by CSS)

Sorry, I haven't had time to look into it yet. A nasty spinal infection has me flat on my back. But this much...

Yes, webp has been integrated into WB since WB 2.13.0.

Doch so viel...

Ah yes, WB accepts webp in the media folders. It's some modules that don't allow it yet (OneForAll's PLUPLOAD won't, for instance) but that's not WB's fault :-)

Get well soon!

The effort required to change this is not particularly great. Perhaps we should make a list of what is needed and where.
At OneForAll, it seems that almost everyone has their own version, so we would probably need to agree on a starting point. This might be something for a separate thread.
