Database changes script watch / warning?
« on: August 02, 2017, 12:13:23 PM »
Hi there,

I saw script in the site under Admin in the menu "dbWatchSite" that watch for changes in the db. The file is not accessible unfortunately. Is there any other similar script?

I suspect some changes that has not been done by any of the users of the site. I just need script that will send message by e-mail or any other way in case the DataBase is changed in any way. I seek in the web without any success until now.

Regards,

Rumen

Here is not the DB monitored, but the webspace

It also depends a little bit on what you want to check..

For checking if valid users updated pages it should not be too hard to do becase most (not all) module saving routines will update the last_modified field in the pages table.

If you want to detect hackers that use other ways to modify data somewhere in the database you will need to have a copy of the previous database state and compare every table and field for changes/additions/removals. That would be pretty difficult to do.

Either way, I don't think there is some existing module/snippet to do that.

If you want to play around, this script might be what you are looking for.
