How to fit a new template to a current homepage?
« on: October 07, 2009, 04:04:44 PM »
hi, how to change the current template (by me "industry1)without modifying the current content?

I have a lot of problems with the template "industry" because what I  design in the backend  looks different in the frontend but only for some pages , particularly  pages with some pictures and texts, They are not aligned as I defined them. The layout of my homepage is nearly finished and I don't want to change the whole content anymore.

I copy industry.css as editor.css. I have no screen.css

Which template works fine and without problem? how to fit a new template to my current homepage?

Cheers.

3 things to tell....

first:
backend is NOT frontend...the trick with the editor.css is only an effort to get the same as the frontend shows......
showed output depends on only _2_ things => 1. code input in the backend (sourcecode clean? - no inline styles overwritting the frontend.css) 2. the screen.css (or template.css or in your case industry.css)

second:

a template and the content are two complett different things.....you can choose everytime a template and you can change everytime the content....with changing the template you don't delete or change the content....only a problem if you use many different blocks the settings are changing for eg. if you change to a "three-block-template" from a "one-block-template" all blocks are now block "one"......logicaly

third:
you can change your template online with the addon file editor (look at the repositry) -> before changing much you can download a zip file with this tool, too!
or you work with a local test/devellopment environment....hmm i will prefer the portable -Edition- for just little devellopments  :-D
or you can use XAMPP and install a new WB - it's not a trick to get your online content/installation as a "copy" on your harddisk.....(i make such copy's from every installation to test new things/features before do this online.....)

regards martin
