Title: WB in Wikipedia
Post by: ja on March 23, 2008, 11:58:29 PM
(didn't know where to say this)

I noticed that there isn't any page about WebsiteBaker at Wikipedia in English. Moreover, at the list of CMSs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_content_management_systems), WB was erased because it was considered non-notable. So I suggest to create an article about it to let the people know about this wonderful CMS.

I created a little draft about it in Spanish: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website_Baker (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website_Baker)

Hello!

Well, yes, odd thing, there was an article about WB in wikipedia, but somehow they deleted it...
At least a quite big German article is there: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website_Baker

But thanks for your Spanish article.  8-)

Hello Waldschwein!

I didn't know about the German page in Wikipedia, it's great! Now I see there is another one in Italian and another in Dutch. So I think it could be interesting to have it in English. I can't speak German, but surely it wouldn't be too dificult to translate it to English.

Hello!

Ok, I will try to translate the (my  ) German article into English, at least for the release 2.7.

:-D Thank you for your kindness!

I'm sure that if people know about WB and try it, will prefer it rather than any other.

PS: I will expand the Spanish page when you finish the English one

I actually challenged this on Wikipedia myself but the English article was deleted for being a marketing-speak written page rather than something factual. It would need to be rewritten in a factual manner that complies with their policies over at Wikipedia. It was eligible for 'speedy-deletion' in the form that it existed in. Sad, but that's how they do things over there.

I'm sure a better and more appropriately written article would be a more suitable candidate for their site.

It's also nice to be back, I haven't been around the Internet for quite some time due to my move back from Germany, illness and getting started in my new career! I've also had a load of studying to do

Yes, to be included on English Wikipedia it has to be notable somehow. Newspaper articles about it? Haven't anybody written a book about it?

I don't think that for being at wikipedia some newspaper articles or books must say something about WB. Please look at here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random) few times and tell me if every article is really notable.

WB was erased because it was considered non-notable.

How you come up with this conclusion?  :-D
Is there any record about "considerations"?

Plese let me know.

Hi Stefek,
I can't find the exact place where I read it (I thought it was on the first link of the threat). However, here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kurykh/Archive_8#Article_Deletion_-_Website_Baker) you can read someone that asked why it was deleted.

And here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website_Baker) the proof that the article really existed.

I think WB is sufficiently notable to be at wikipedia (it's in other languages, so why can it be in English?)

Thank you!

I have no experience with WikiPedia.

Is there some kind of jury who decide which articles will be displayed or not?

What if we create new content on this topic?
Who has the authority to stop/delete it?

A good article about website baker cms would be nice.

Let me know.
Regards,
Stefek
