Title: WebsiteBaker Templates
Post by: adowellin on May 28, 2007, 10:47:01 PM
After much slaving, input and coding my latest bakery WIP is nearing completion. I think this has come out somewhat okay but I'm not much of a designer these days, prefer the coding side of things! :p

Anyway, check it out: http://www.websitebakertemplates.com/ and let me know what you think!

I like the clean look and easy navigation. But, WB already have templates repository. Am I missing something here? :)

Not really, I just wanted to do a little project to see how many ways I could present the templates currently available without the constraints of a single page big list of templates (which isn't that easy to use or search, to be honest - sorry wb guys). :) It's also a staging point for my own templates which I'm working on as well.

There are official template repositories for other CMS's too but other people run template sites that can be more specialised if the right approach is taken =) Maybe it has some value to someone other than me and is really just a public version of something I've had privately for a while now.

it's sort of the same idea behind my baker.mnpages.com - a place that is as much for my "private use" as anything, but as long as I'm putting the effort in to it, might as well share it, right?

It would be nice to be able to multiple tags or categories to search them like at http://themes.wordpress.net/

That's pretty much it yeah, why not share such a thing? I'll look into implementing such a thing over the next couple of days. I still have some time spare until Friday so maybe I can make this happen, thank you for the suggestion =)

Thanks!

I find your template site much easier to use (and more complete) than the "official" site. Great job!

websitebakertemplat es[dot]hfe1[dot]com

that is total bullshit.  $25 for a crappy template.  i have half a mind to get the source and change it 25% and GPL the damn thing!

I'm not sure I appreciate my thread being hijacked like this hooley but whatever heh. Is there some reason you couldn't have started your own, especially when my site has nothing to do with $25 templates?

No, it is just another annoying template-site.

Holy crap, why don't you contribute and make this site better?
No, instead of this you create just another clone...

For what???

Sorry for the hijack!

Your template site is the best i've seen.  WB would be smart to adopt it.

Suggestion... Theme it like the WB site so it can look seamless!

glad to see my themes are doing well!

Hello,

fully agree, http://websitebakertemplates.com is the best side for WB templates I´ve seen so far. From my point of view, it would make perfect sense to adapt/transfer your side to http://WebsiteBaker.org  :-)

I like that addons.WebsiteBaker .org lets you preview the template live.

Hello,

agree, I think a combination of both would be the best solution for the community.

the only problem with the preview is when the design is narrower than the content.

if you build your own site with it looks ok... but if you view it in the preview it looks like crap

for example...

I would like to know if the design supports sub-menus.  There are lots of templates that break if you use sub-menus

That wasn't directed at you tomhung =) That hooney guy I was meaning.

Lonesome Walker...there is no need to be abusive on here as well in yet another thread. You seem to be quite an angry - verging oft on hysteria - person in general really and I'm not sure what's up. But we'll leave that irrelevancy to the side for now.

Regarding the reason for the site, it started off as just a personal coding project. You know, the same reason people make templates, make programs, build models or whatever, it's just a hobby dude. There's no other reason than that, I like making websites.

As for contributing to the WB project I don't honestly know how to get involved in such ways. I'd like to be able to contribute but someone needs to help me to do so ;)

I like the suggestions - information on whether templates support submenus or not would be very useful indeed. I will look at adding this sometime soon. Regarding making my site look like WB would be a copyright issue I'd assume so that's why I used a template from the community for the site (1024px from Andreas).

yea... i noticed the other day that THIS template isn't in the repository.  WTF.  after all the bitching and moaning about GPL this and GPL that.

@Ryan / Klaus... Hook us up...

@scribbz...  keep up the good work!  You easily add the Preview function into your site...
example
http://www.websitebakertemplates.com/pages/templates/generic.php
when you click on a Preview button / link to
http://addons.WebsiteBaker.org/pages/templates.php?template=generic

just a thought.

Good suggestion... I have a couple templates that are only designed for up to two levels of menus, a couple that handle more.

Maybe a couple of options to list with a template should be: Number of Menus Supported  and Menu Levels Supported
