Title: Write permissions folder /var/log
Post by: scheltel on October 15, 2022, 09:39:39 AM
I'm trying to install a new instance of WebsiteBaker v2.13.2. The installer nags about the fact that there are no write permissions on the folder /var/log. Why does WebsiteBaker needs permission on the entire /var/log folder. I think it would be better to create a folder like /var/log/WebsiteBaker an grant write permissions to the www-data user.

Hi, /var/ and /var/log/ are folders created by WebsiteBaker in his installation destination.

@dbs
The folders you mention are existing folders on a linux server. There is no need that WebsiteBaker creates them.

Yes, you are right, but under the installation of WebsiteBaker there are also these "subfolders" that are needed independently of the server subfolders.

I suspect that it has to do with your "outdated" rights assignment www-data user versus ftp-user (that's how it used to be done) On my server I can't select that at all.  They work with Fast-GCI or something like that.
If I remember correctly there was a "php-user" and a "ftp-user" with different rights.

This problem does not exist anymore with "Fast-GCI".

Here is an example

-my server area
--var
--log
--WebsiteBaker area
---admin
---...
---...
---...
---var
----log
