Title: Re: New WebsiteBaker Backend – we modernize WB :-)
Post by: Argos on January 25, 2015, 02:30:09 AM
As you will know some CMS are simply overdeveloped (eg. WP, Joomla etc). One of the great powers of WB is it's basics. Keep a CMS safe & simple.

Simple in terms of usability? Yes! This is the main and really only benefit of BW.

Simple in terms of features and possibilities? No! This will be the main reason for its downfall. Modern websites are not simple page-based semi-static sites anymore. A limited CMS like WB simply lacks the features and power to create modern websites.

Hi,

I'm with ya that the addon section is very poor and outdated and that it will come not even close to the big cms leaders. On the other hand, this makes sense because WB is very tiny compare to the big ones.

Besides that, WB = not WP. WB = not Joomla. Let us not compare WB to those other big systems. WB is nothing more than a basic, but yet very powerfull and save CMS. Yes you have some basic addons but for the rest you need some development skills in order to make modern websites. And yes, you can make modern websites with WB as the backend. And yes there are more mods available outside the official addon site.

But when you are not a developer and/or doesn't have the skills to create/adjust mods then WB isn't your future but CMS systems with tons of free templates and addons.

So in short; My opinion is too that the needed update is taking way too long and more mods would be welcome. That said, I haven't got any problems working with the current latest version and can bake modern websites. And for the real heavy stuff that I cannot bake myself I hire a professional programmer. :)
