Title: Official Template Repository
Post by: Stefan on March 09, 2006, 06:25:42 PM
As a replacement for my template showcase, an official template repository has been set up at
http://addons.WebsiteBaker.org/templates/

You can preview and download templates for WebsiteBaker there.

This site is managed by Matthias (ruebenwurzel), Woudloper and Klaus (kweitzel).
If you want your template showcase there, please send a mail with your zip file attached to one of them.

As soon as the addons repository is complete, a formal announcement will be made.

Nice to see it become official. Wouldn't it be nice to also put an image of the template on the site.
Now you have to preview every design to see if it fit your needs. Maybe some additional info, for example number of contentblocks or columns.

I have my templates on my own site so i can see the stats. How many times it's downloaded etc. Can something be done like on http://www.oswd.org and http://www.openwebdesign.org.

Very good initiative! But what is the difference between the official template repository and the completed templates section?? Is it not better to have one section for templates?
Title: Re: Official Template Repository
Post by: Stefan on March 10, 2006, 10:12:02 AM
The addons repository is meant to replace the "Completed" sections.

Good idea. Just to be complete. When i have a quick look there are a few of PeterM missing (it is hard to keep up with him i know): andreas09, cloudy, mamboportal, fluidity, bluesky and K2. On Peter's site there is some kind of documentation called "road to conversion". Maybe it is a good idea to add this to the documentation section.

yeah i think its a great idea to include his conversion document, i use it all the time. Its actually possible to break that down aswell into sections rather than stating what was changed in the template.

It would look so much nicer, in my opinion, if is was titled as displayed. For example:

<b>How to add a search:</b>

Code: [Select]
<?php if(SHOW_SEARCH) { ?>
<div id="searchdiv">
<ul><ul>
          <form name="search" action="<?php echo WB_URL.&#39;/search/index&#39;.PAGE_EXTENSION; ?>" method="post">
<h2><?php echo $TEXT[&#39;SEARCH&#39;]; ?></h2>

          <div>
            <input type="text" name="string" size="15" /><br /><br />
            <input type="submit" name="submit" value="<?php echo $TEXT[&#39;SEARCH&#39;]; ?>" />
          </div>
          </form>

</ul></ul>
</div>
<?php
?>

and so on.. that way people can simply cut and paste what they want.. :) the features of the WebsiteBaker tagging would be helpful too like:

Code: [Select]
<?php page_title(&#39;&#39;,&#39;[WEBSITE_TITLE]&#39;); ?>this is defined in the admin section at .........

see my point? :) great work PeterM though...

@jschor

Hello, at the addons page we have at the moment only the Templates from stefans site and the on from the completed templates. There are a lot mor templates in the forum (the one from PeterM you post and a few more). I will look at the weekend to hopefully download all this templates and test if they are ok to release on the addons page. Saw that some templates have wrong zip structure and in some info.php's needs to be mor informations.

I also plan to write o short descreption for the template developpers, what they have to do to get their templates shown on the addons page.

My conversion document was just a forum topic, to let people see what sometimes need to be changed to make a template for WB. I will try to make a better and real document about making templates for WB.

Looks good but...

Could you please make the following changes...

Before: Hi-Tech made by kbimcz - kibmcz.gmail.com for version
After: Hi-Tech (Simple) made by kibmcz for version 2.x

Before: Hi-Tech 2 Left & 1 Top Content Block made by kibmcz for version 2.x
After: Hi-Tech (Round) made by kbimcz for version  2.x

I will write my info.php better next time  8-).

OK ... kibmcz ... changes are made.

@all:
When I uploaded some of the templates, I realised, that they where zipped the wrong way. The ZIP-File had a folder with the template name in the root and in there where the files. Please make shure (also for unexperienced users, who test your template for their site, befor it is posted in the rpository) that you zip the content of the folder and not the folder (btw, saves us some work as well  :-D)

cheers

Can you add "what's your solution" to the list? (it was there before).

I like how the list is alphabetized!

Is the mirror page hacked too? The templates list, I mean--the modules page comes up ok.

Hi  kweitzel ,  :-)

I ask if it is possible to insert the date of update in the  in template add-on repository therefore as it has been made also in the the add-on repository section of the modules.  8-)

Title: Re: Official Template Repository
Post by: kweitzel on October 02, 2006, 11:30:20 AM
it is a completly different script, not the same like the modules section ... the modules section is the normal "download gallery" and does include this fetaure. But if we would change over to the download gallery, we would loose the preview feature.

Hello,

unfortunaly the developer of the template showcase script seems to be very busy right now. But on our wishlist for a future script this is one of the included points. Don't know how fast we can implement this and our other wishes to template showcase script.

Hello,

we had this script already (since a few weeks) on the addons repository. It only needs a little bit layout tweaking and then it goes online this weekend.

Thanks

Hi All,

Nice job!  Could we also add a date stamp in so we know which templates are new?

I prefer the ISO8601 standard of [YYYY-MM-DD] but it's up to Ryan I guess.

Cheers,

Isabel
Title: Template Showcase - Reloaded
Post by: doc on September 16, 2008, 08:49:41 PM
Hello,

this is just to inform you that we have reworked the template showcase at: http://addons.WebsiteBaker.org/pages/templates.php.

The reworked showcase allows to sort templates by number of downloads, user ranking, issue date or alphabetical order. In addition you can limit the results by user defined keywords.

Best regards
Christian

Much better! Well done.
However: the rating doesn't work properly, you don't get to see the numbers, only in the status bar it shows (on mouse over).

Regards,

Vincent

http://www.websitebaker2.org/template/pages/en/home.php (http://www.websitebaker2.org/template/pages/en/home.php)

We put all existings templates in archive. Because all this templates were created for WebsiteBaker Version 2.6 and 2.7 and won't work correctly in 2.8.x. We disabled all templates who produced errors.

The future is to rework some old templates that they could use in newer WB Versions. We will be going to create different areas. The showcase himself must be recoded. I already did the first step.

If you want to use templates from archive please have a look in the index.php and change the code e.g. from showmenu to show_menu2, add register_modfiles etc.

I understand that on the official wb template showcase there are no wb2.8.x templates yet.

Is there anywhere a wb template wich has all wb 2.8.x has to offer?
Wich uses all benefits and calls?

If there are some wb28x templates we could use it as a how-to and adapt them.

John

edit, I know where the manual is : http://www.websitebaker2.org/en/help/designer-guide/adding-template-functions.php
but some peops learn quicker by example.

Hey PC-Wacht,

I have 2 templates working on WB 2.8.x as downloads, a 'simple' one (version VA Template 2.1, a template with menu, titles, meta-tags and sections) and an 'advanched' one (version VA Template Framework 3.1 Lite, which is a WB 2.0 (!) template with CSS-Vars, CSS-Schemes and more codes and scripts for the professional developer). The coming new version 3.5 is a mayor update and by some already compared as 'Wordpress level' Theme ;)

Check em on: http://revamds.com/pages/en-us/downloads.php

Cheerz,

Tez

It looks like I picked a bad time to try website baker.  Not even the links mentioned here where there are templates do not work.  I am new to this software so let me ask a dumb question.  Do I even need a template?  Personally, I hate them and prefer to design my site my way.  Does a blank template come with the software?  That would be great for me.

Hi, the best way ist to copy&rename the delivered template ("Default Template"). Rename the folder and a part of the info.php.
Take a look in the index.php of the template. Change this new template to your needs. You are free in many things.
