Title: Coupon Code insertion possible?
Post by: Boudi on June 23, 2012, 10:23:12 PM
Hi there,

Is there any way to insert a coupon code so that certain customers can get a discount on the shop price?

Hope for an answer. The question comes from a respectable client of us.

Regards,

Boudi

Hi,

I don't have an answer for you but would just like to add my thoughts.

A coupon / code in my view should be used like advertising to attract new customers and the codes are only normally valid for a limited time.

To make it interesting enough to attract new customers the % discount has to be big enough to tempt someone.

If you supply a coupon code to a regular and good customer he could get an impression that prices are higher than they need to be and may become unhappy.

Also, other regular customers would want to know why they don't get one and etc etc

The idea we have settled on is a per order loyalty discount to specific regular customers. The discounting remains fully under your control and the feature should not have any adverse effect on customers who do not qualify.

We (I) do not plan to implement this until later in the year but I will follow your question to see what is suggested for coupon codes.

regards,

Hi,

Thnq for your respond.

In a project that I'm working on right now it's not a question from the client, it's a demand. In other words; I simply need an input field in which a visitor can put a discount/coupon code.

The most 'easy' way is to put an extra input field in the form. Unfortunately the form fields in Bakery doesn't let you do hardly any changes.

So, again, my question is, does anyone can help me out with this?
