Title: Which WB 2.8 backend theme do you use?
Post by: Waldschwein on September 09, 2009, 12:04:24 AM
Hello!

I am just interested, which backend theme the people like and use in WB 2.8. 8-)

I personally use the argos_theme. It is quite different from the "old" (2.7 similar) wb_theme and the "very old" (2.0 - 2.6 similar) classic_theme, and the media plugins it has are quite useful I think.

And if you have another one, would be cool if you post it here what it looks like.

Regards Michael

I would upload my Backend Theme, but unfortunately there is one file which wasn't touched by the core team, so the skinability is not really fulfilled.
It is the "page tree".
So I am using a "hardcoded" pages/index.php file in order to fix my needs.

Once this part is skinable I will provide a full Backend Theme Package to the community.
In fact I have more than just one Theme.

I also like Argos Theme very much, because it is more comfortable in some areas. (I do not like the icons this theme is using very much though.)

Salute,
Stefek

Well, of course I prefer Argos! It has features other default admin themes don't have. And besides: it looks so much better

Hi Stefek, I look forward to your contributions. What don't you like about the icons? Are you refering to the small or the big ones? And do you use the latest WB2.8 version? Because that has different icons than all preceding versions.

Do you mean the point with the pagetree?
As far as I know this is a known issue.  :?

Thanks for letting me know.
Costs some 5 Minutes to get a first impression what it is about. Let me know if you've seen it. For the next 10 Days I am very busy. Maybe you'll find some time till then.

Argos. No doubt. I always wondered why the old 2.7 admin was so friggin' narrow. Editing pages is so much easier for the end-user as well in the Argos theme!

At the moment I'm useing wb_theme, classic and agro. I'm working on 3 sites at one time so it's easy to remember witch side I'm edditing. Was hard to get used to it but now it's perfekt. Don't want to miss that!!!!

The Argos theme has the website title in the header, so you can use Argos for all sites  :-D

I don't look everytime in the header. I'm useing 2TFT and diffrend Browser with a lot of tabs, so it's easy just to look at the color and know were you are.

Argos, it should be default!

I like the Argos theme.

The only thing I miss is inside the Admin Tools --> Template Edit. WB 2.7 used to provide source code formatting i.e. colors, but the Argos theme doesn't.

Even if I go back to use the Classic or WB Theme in 2.8, the source code formatting colors are not there.

Is there a way to add this back in?

Off course I like the Argos theme very much,
but I have two clients who are visually impaired, they work even on a 21" Monitor with a 800 x 640 resolution.
So I made a own  version, based on the wb_theme to fit their needs...

I doubt (but didn't test yet) if that has anything to do with the argos theme. Template edit is a module, not part of my theme...

Fair enough.

I found it a good feature to quickly find the bits of code that I was looking for.

I find the all gray text a little hard to read through and find the piece of code that I am looking for.

Try the addon file editor. I'm useing this one inside Argos as Admin tool and it works fine For Modules and Templates.
