Post by: Bramus on July 04, 2008, 12:32:35 AM
As i was bored, and i want a new site for my "hosting" thing (soon i'll be a company in the NL) i decided to start on some new template for my site.

Give your opinion about what you think of the site, still a lot of work needs to be done, but here is just already a preview.

Servus,

Yeah looks good.  8-) Nice idea with the splitted menu.

Just a thought - the black menu looks a littlebit oversized to me.

Best regards from Himberg, nearby Vienna

I like the look of the site and think that the black menu size is good.

I do find the text in your actie.jpg image hard to read with the shadowing.

Thanks for the comments, the actie.jpg is a fast made "photoshop" thingie to see how it would look with some more graphics in the site.

Gonna give it some content today to see how it will look :)

The new site has just been set online after a new server installation where this site is running on now. Running Debian 4.0 with DirectAdmin and the latest builds.

Please check-out http://www.bramus.nl and tell me what you think about the site!

Thanks.

Zeile: 1
Quelltext:
Invalid SQL: SELECT `vkey`, `data` FROM `swregistry` WHERE `vkey` IN('languagecache','usergroupsettingcache','staffassigncache','groupassigncache','staffcache','tgroupassigncache','settingscache','tgroupcache'); (Table 'admin_support.swregistry' doesn't e

where do you get that error as i havent seen it yet. I think it is because i was moving the support part to the new server and was busy with sql querys. If some one else finds this error please report again so i can try to fix it!

Hello

MacOs 10.5.4
FireFox 3.0.1
WebdeveloperTools 1.1.6
FireBug 1.2.0b7

Safari 3.1.2
comes up with other messages in the error-console:
Code: [Select]
[The HTML that caused this error was generated by a script.] <style> is not allowed inside <div>. Moving <style> into the <head>.
http://www.bramus.nl/ (line 61)
[The HTML that caused this error was generated by a script.] <font> misnested or not properly closed.  Cloning <font> in order to preserve the styles applied by it.

inside the error-window from webdeveloper-tools under FireFox.
The error is thrown from a php script on the serverside.

In general I really like the cleanliness of the design. Colors also look good for me.

However, I would suggest some minor improvements:

- Redesign the top banner, it occupies quite a lot of space but offer little information - may be shorten it (?)
- I like the navigation but the hover effect seems to have too much 3D - it feels like metal/plastic - which kind of conflicts with the rest of the design
- Did you try logo without the reflection effect? It may be simpler & more reliable.
- Lastly, check this guy out, have always been my favorite hosting site: http://mediatemple.net/ (http://mediatemple.net/)

Good luck with your business :)

1. i dont have a global.css
2. i dont have a navi.css

and widgets????

You sure you are checking the good page?

@ ndh611

I know there is a lot of space in the top banner, but not sure what to put there yet. Was thinking about moving the text closer to the middle. I dont think the navigation has to mutch 3D, i like it the way it is. I had the logo without the reflection, but i think with it looks better and fits better with the header and other reflection effects on some pages.

Last, yes thats a very nice site about hosting, but to bad i cant copy it :P
