Title: menu links differnet colours question?

Is it possible to have  menu links in different formats i.e. colour, bold, italic?
I tried to put bold, font color tags etc  around menu items in admin but it doesn't work, can someone tell me how to do it
I am using the latest version and round template witha vertical lefthand menu and want a feww menu links to stand out. :?
