Title: Developing new set of Smileys for WB Modules
Post by: Stefek on December 09, 2008, 09:10:15 PM
Hello Community.

User BerndJM picked up a Forum Module posted by another User and is going to create the first ever fully WB based Forum Module.
This is a really great thing.

In this post (https://forum.WebsiteBaker.org/index.php/topic,11959.msg72936.html#msg72936) I was aksed by User Ruud, if I would contribute a set of smileys for this module.

If I see that there is a interest for such a set I will create one and will release it under the GPL Licence as a Christmas Gift for the Community.

Please let me know what you would like to see.

Best Regards,
Stefek

P.S. in the Picture below you will find the current Smiley Set and the default SMF Forum Smiley Set.

Hello Martin.

Do you think "blue" is a good colour to use?
Would you use blue smileys on your installations, customer websites?

Stefek

In fact this would be possible, Bernd (Photoshop required in this case).

But I would like to create a Set with a commonly used color scheme.
I do not try to make something too original (never seen before).
Because in Design we have allways some conventions (http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/conventions.php), I am not trying to come up with something "very new".

I (personally) think yellow smileys is the best choice.
And they should look just a little bit more up to date.

Size, animation, the diffrent moods to use - this are the things we should talk about.

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Stefek

I think the only conventions for smileys would be a more or less round image with 2 eyes and a mouth.
When an image  like that is used in a forum or a guestbook nobody will wonder what they mean.

The overall WB convention is "simple, but good quality".
So you need more or less round images with 2 eyes and a mouth that look simple but will have high quality.

I really think they should be different than the rest. You should recognize a WB smiley from the rest.
Could be by a Baker Hat, or just a nice 3D/shadowed look.. (I'm not the graphics specialist)
Most smiley's out there just tell me the writer meant to be joking, I have also seen smileys that actually made me smile.

There is no real problem to create smileys with a head but the size. They would be as big as this "MisterGreen" one  (in the hight).

I think I choose the second variant: unique smileys, good quality.
