Wow... someone at least as loquacious as me!  :-o  And who actually reads and responds to the points even?!

I have given up on expecting decent replies because nobody reads more than 1 or 2 points.  I won't try to do it either today (okay, I lied. But not all of the points, at least) but glad to be of service. I see you have lots of ideas, and learn from what you are doing.  Excellent - keep it up! And even better, you have people wanting more!

Footer - yes, MUCH better, still quite subtle.

Uh... 1920 x 1200....  1920....

CRT - just fine a small monitor that someone is throwing out. Or even a little old TV if you have (or want) a composite video test!

The grey etc... er... not sure I understand - The whole POINT is it's supposed simulate how your site will look to someone with the choosen eye problem (e.g. no green, all grey, etc).  Are you getting a different response? You site looked okay on all tests I tried, except for the footer text.  Unlike people who put Blue text on a Red background or something equally silly.

I will study that drop-down code, as soon as I can.  I have several things taking precedence unfortunately - including concert posters and retrieving kids from vacation at grandparents. Not to mention work.  The FF using-people will have to wait. It's especially annoying because I got FF working again (had the bad profile issue, "already running!" bah!) and WebDev & Firebug are awesome tools.  I used them to figure out that the top level menu is getting pushed down from the nav bar somehowand is either invisible (white text on white background - losing the background colour - or being overlaid by the rest of the menu.

It's based on the Generic design, which seems to work fine on another site, so not sure what got broken. I may have to restart the design. Hmm. I wonder if he updated it after I downloaded it. Maybe it would be better to start from the default template again. I think I just talked myself into it. Might as well if I'm going to use the drop-down code you supplied. I have to redo some of it anyway, because I wanted to do multiple content blocks. Sigh... soon... but they need the poster ASAP... I worked up a concept this morning since I woke up early. Way too early. Er... sorry, nothing to do with your design!

Hee hee... this makes my day.  I have found a kindred spirit.  But I've also been one-upped: loquacious?!  Dude!!  What a good word.  I'm going to look it up right now.

Done.  I likes it.  :-)  Loquacious.  Yes, that seems accurate.  ;-)

I totally appreciate your awesome critique.  It really has been great to hear.  Thank you so much.

Thanks again for the heads-up.

I thought it was sweet, till I started designing websites on it.  There's such a ridiculous range nowadays, between 800x600's and widescreen LCDs... it's kind of annoying.  Perhaps I should actually learn how to design a variable-width page.  :|   Good call, though.  I'm sure I'll be able to track down a CRT.

My bad.  I was looking at the coverage test.   :-)  It's all good on the real colorblind tests.  Thanks again for showing me that.

Myspace is the bane of my existance.  Yours too, no doubt!

Hey, no worries.  If the code's of use to you, awesome!  I know, eh?  Life is getting in the way of my website bakin' time!!  Glad you got FF working again - yeah!  I could *not* design websites without those 2 addons!  Are you running linux?  (That would be awesome!  I just thought of that cause of the already-running issue; that's where I've experienced it.)  All the best with your design there.

Hey, it's all good!  Sometimes it gets hard to keep track of it all, eh?  Good luck with it all.  Feel free to copy anything useful from my site; you've helped me so much already.  Anyway, I'd better go to bed; more baking to do tomorrow morning!  It's so great to hear from you, and all the best.  Thanks for everything!

Thanks "Anne" :-)  Glad it was a help.

Yep. And don't forget about phones & pda's.  "Device independent design" is not easy to do -- well.
I'm doing more and more of my surfing with my Palm, due to availability of a computer seat. These dang kids taking over the computer... :x

Fluid is easy! Fluid DESIGN, even somewhat complex,  is only slightly harder. But PORTABLE fluid design is the killer - unless you're using a minimalist design. Which is actually not a bad idea.

Another suggestion - if you don't know about them, check out ALA & PIE.
Look up this one on a design that switches layouts, depending on screen size, http://www.alistapart.com/articles/switchymclayout
And this one is an interesting semi-fluid design with min & max values (even in browsers that don't understand it)
http://www.positioniseverything.net/articles/sidepages/jello-piefecta-clean.html
No idea about actual compatibility though.

Shudder.

Na, was WinXP. I have run various Linux at different times, and am trying to increase the usage. Ubuntu is very slick. Going to try out the latest KUb version 7. XUb 6 was pretty nice but for various reasons, I haven't done a full Ub install (including past LILO issues on other machines).

The FF problem seems to have been a common problem - bad profile state due to a system crash/reboot. Not surprising given all the clutter running on the machine - was ground to a halt for awhile. Between Win Defender. ClamAV, BSafe filter & firewall, ReturnNil virutalization and now SafeSurf... and those are just the stuff I had to add for various security reasons. Including yet another MyWebsearch infection.  Bah. I haven't had one of those on that box before due to (usually) locking the careless surfers out of the Admin account. Leave them alone for 10 seconds and...  :x
