Thanks for the info Kweitzel.
At the moment I'm still finding my feet so to speak and the amount of inforamtion available on the hacks for IE.X are overwhelming.
Can you point me in the direction of some good repositories I can look at for my own education on the subject?

I think any decent site dealing with CSS will also point you into the right direction. Personally I found the site www.positionisevery thing.net very usefull when it comes to the behaviour analysis of the different browsers.
Hacks are, like the name says a not very nice form, additionally the will make a CSS validation test fail. Look up google for "conditional ie css" to find out how to divert to a IE stylesheet ... (OK ... at the end this is "sort of a hack" as well.
