Best HTML & CSS editor

(1/3) > >>

dennisvr:
Hi,

I'm looking for a good free of not too expensive WYSIWYG HTML & CSS editor.

I like using Adobe Golive (for it's drag n drop and CSS positioning) and Dreamweaver but my trails hve expired and I feel that they are too expensive (for me, who builds eh... tries to build websites as a hobby).

Also, I'm not very good at coding.

Any suggestions? (I use both Linux with KDE 3.5 or Windows XP)

Thanks!

All the best,
Dennis

P.s. Other editors I've installed and looked at:
- HotDog Professional 7 (no WYSIWYG / drag n drop design mode)
- EVRsoft First Page 2006 (so so, but might work out)
- HTML Kit (better suited for real coders)
- NVU
- Quanta Plus
- NetObjects Fusion 10 looks promising, but where can I download a trial version?

Hello,

you are here at WebsiteBaker org wich is a CMS System and you ask for programms to create static homepages. Are you shure you are on the right place here?

Hi Matthias,

I know I'm at the WB forum.  :-D

Just thought with so many people developing websites and the really helpful WB community, perhaps someone has got a good suggestion.

Regards,
Dennis

I'd like to chime in on the CSS front.  I've tried many packages that were supposed to ease CSS editing, but none actually deliver on that promise.  If I want to edit a template, or think of creating a new one from scratch, and I am not a coder either, there doesn't seem to be anything simple available right now.

I typically use Dreamweaver for editing HTML, and it works well in that regard, but for CSS, it's a manual process.  Who wants that when you can code in designer view for everything else?  That makes no sense to me.

Have you guys ever tried "NVU"? The Mozilla Editor ... give it a try, at least you don't have to pay for it ...

I do 90% of my coding with a standard (ok advanced)  texteditor called "jedit". My Dad used to use "arachnophilia" (but I think it doesn't exist anymore) and my sis thinks "phase5" is the right one for her.

cheers

Klaus
