WebsiteBaker Statistics Modul v1.9.14 · Top 10- Referers list

(1/2) > >>

Nicky:
Hello Bakers!

WebsiteBaker Statistics Modul v1.9.14

Great module that does what it promised. No errors. Love it.

BUT I cannot understand the Top 10- Referers list ?

They are always *.ru *.ua  or,  *.cn sites and those sites rotate/change every few days ! I have loads of
UK/FR sites linking to me but they never appear on that list !

There must be many more than 200 ru/ua/cn sites somehow refering to me ! I have visited some of those sites
and cannot find reference/link to my site. Most are, "regular" sites.

My small site (9 pages) is in EN and FR only, and about holiday rental in France. Nothing, "dodgy" about it at all !

Has my site been poisoned somehow ?

In search, Bing and Yahoo are very kind to me (page 1) but I *might* only reach page 9 in Google at best. :-o

My site was started I think in 2006/7

My .htaccess is heavily fortified but I am not blocking country ISPs specifically.

Can anyone tell me why is this happening ?

WB-Version
2.10.0

Nicky:
I uninstalled the Statistics module and downloaded a fresh zip from the WB addons repository. Installed the module with success and waited. About 8 hours later I checked and a completely new set of Top-10 referrers appeared,  9 Russian and one *.by and none of them I have seen before.

I have no issues with bona-fide sites linking to me, but this is simply baffling. There is no content on my site that would interest any of the referrers that appear to do just that !

Can anyone throw in a few suggestions ?

Regards,
N

ps.  I have the same module installed on another WB 2.10.0 site and I don't get the same result. The Top-10 list of referrers shows Google etc.

pps. Google Webmaster Tools indicates all is ok with the site. No security issues found.

Nicky:
My UK hosting has just completed a malware scan and nothing found in 6155 files.

Are Ruud or Luisehahne able to offer help to solve this issue please ?

Ruud:
Note the top10 lists are calculated over the last 7 days only. Older data is deleted.
For the rest it just records what is happening.

If you want to see where the visits are looking at on your website, and where they are coming from (on more detail) you will have to analize your webserver logfiles.

Gast:
On my own pages I have daily about 30 - 40% visitors from * .ru, * .by etc, but also from france and spain, mostly with the attempt to reach familiar files of other systems like Wordpress or Joomla (see it in the email-report of the 404-handling). Sometimes also 20 attempts in 10 minutes, then again two days nothing. Others try to see the pages where the attack points are, and these hits are then counted in the statistics, I think.
not possible for me to make a difference between the "good" visitors and the hackers, so no time to think about this
