templates not working
thefink:
Hello,
I am very, very new to WebsiteBaker so I may be stating the obvious in a minute. If I do please be forgiving!
I just installed release 2.8.1 rev. 1287 of he CMS system. It Works just fine until I try to upload a new template.
I upload the new templates via the upload and install buttons in the add-ons menu. It says that the install goes allright. When I then activate the template.
When I then preview the site it is all white with the bits of text I added to the sections in mid air!
I tried it with several templates from several sources and ages. Some old and some very new.
All with the exact same result!
Maybe I am doing something terribly wrong? Or is the new version buggy?
With kind regards,
Marcel

Marcel, did you upload the template in zipped format? If you try to unzip it before you install, then it won't work. Just download and install as is.
You said the bits of text you added, but what did it look like before you added the text, and, how did you add your text? Try activating the page immediately after you install the template, before you do anything to it. (Click the green checkmark next to the page in the Pages tab.) It may be that you edited the code and broke the link to the css file(s).
I'm also very, very new to WB, and it worked fine for me out of the box.

LOL That's not an activation function, but just a view page function. No need to "activate" a new page after creating.

There surely is somehting wrong. It sounds like you're doing the right thing though. What happens when you try one of the default templates, like Round? Does that show allright?

Thank you for the input!
I am affraid it was my fault after all! It was a rights issue.
Somehow the default rights in my site are too low to access the template from the web. I added the rights and it worked.
Again thanks!
