Buggy templates listed on the Add-ons repository

(1/4) > >>

doc:
Hi,

thought it might be a good idea to start a list with buggy templates listed on the Add-ons repository. The list should help to find templates with problems such as outdated Anynews calls or usage of code snippets without checking if the snippet is installed resulting in a fatal error meassage or a white page.

Buggy template:
Template: Andreas01
Version: 3.00
Desc: Uses the outdated function call display_news_items instead of displayNewsItems

Feel free to report further buggy templates in this thread.

Maybe it's a better idea do it the other way around, to place all WB2.8 checked templates in a separate section. And tell on the templates repository that templates may be outdated and/or have errors if not in the WB2.8 section.

There are also lots of very ugly amateuristic templates available, that don't have anysthing special in design or function. Of course it's very subjective and you can't argue over tase, but maybe the baddest ones could just be deleted. They can give WB a bad image.

As I have learned:

these things are always a matter of taste.

Maybe we start the counter again and then throw the less or none downloaded out?

The most up to date overview of "nice" WebsiteBaker templates can be found at Chios site. Chio invested a lot of time to "convert" some of the "better" templates to a certain standard (e.g. remove warnings, fix some CSS issues etc.).

Bet most of the templates available on the Add-ons repository which were derived from other Open Source templates (like all Andreas templates) are "outdated". Checked a view of the "better" templates listed on the Add-ons repository and in about 85% of the cases, fixed or updated templates were available at the site of the original template author (e.g. adaptions for IE 7, 8 family etc.).
