My First Site for Djing

I can give you my thoughts about it. It works fine with me, by the way. I use pretty standard WinXp/IE7 config.

First of all, I don't see the need for an intro page. It has no interesting or relevant information and serves no purpose. It also has a major spelling error: "MarkNickolas.com uses the falloing technologies and systems'. "

Then the music that starts to play when entering your (true) homepage: very annoying! Never ever have music start to play automatically, not even if you're a DJ. So after two irritations, my first reaction was to go away. Only for the sake of this little review I stayed.

Then from a design point of view: I don't like the different font sizes in the menu, just to make sure the titles fit in the button space. Just make different button sizes instead.

I also don't like your picture. Here I am at your site, and it feels like you turn your back on me, looking out of the website. Rather uninviting and not very "open".

I think you should improve some CSS as well, for example the HR and A tags. The corners of your design are a bit sloppy and can be better.

From a usability standpoint: content boxes with inner scroll bars are not so user friendly. You'd better let the site stretch as a whole.


So, do I like your site? Hm, to be honest not really. On the other hand, if it's your first site and you're not that experienced in webdesign and creation yet, you did a very decent job. Much better than my first site back in the day LOL.

I hope you don't feel offended by my remarks, just keep improving little by little!

My opinion about your site is approximately the same as Argos.

I never like when there's music on a site when I'm entering. If it doesn't start automatically, there's no problem. You should allow the freedom to your visitors, if they want to hear your music or not.

I like your menu buttons as they appear, but not the hover effect, which doesn't stop and irritates. The same with the line-inverting-effect when changing content

For me the font size is too big (for example in "Bio").

But as a whole, it's really not bad for your first try. I like the opacity-effects and the background.
